The square behind the Gate
Pariser Platz lies east of the Brandenburg Gate, in the district of Mitte. It is an open square, not an attraction with an entrance. The Gate marks its western side, and Unter den Linden begins here and runs east.
Around the square you find the embassies of the United States and France, the Akademie der Künste, the Max Liebermann Haus and the building of the Adlon hotel. The Adlon building is listed here as a landmark only. This guide does not review or recommend hotels.
This site is independent. It is not an official city page and does not run any of the buildings named below.

Buildings on and near the square
What each one is, and what you can expect as a visitor.
US embassy
The embassy of the United States is at Pariser Platz 2. It is a diplomatic building, so do not assume that tourists can go inside.
French embassy
The French embassy is at Pariser Platz 5. Do not assume that tourists can go inside; treat it as a building to look at from the square.
British embassy
The British embassy is not on this square. It is at Wilhelmstraße 70 to 71, so do not look for it here.

Getting there and parking
Rail is the simplest way.
The station Brandenburger Tor is on the S1, S2, S25, S26 and U5 and lies in fare zone A. The station is not the Gate itself, so plan a short walk to the square. On the U5, the ride between Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Brandenburger Tor takes about 3 minutes, and between Brandenburger Tor and Bundestag about 1 minute. These are ride times without waiting or walking. A single ticket for Berlin AB costs €4.00 in 2026 (reduced €2.50) and is valid for 120 minutes in one direction.
There is no parking at the Gate. The foundation points to a paid car park in Behrenstraße, so check the fee and whether a space is free on the day.

The Gate works in autumn 2026
What changes for your visit.
The operator announced that the site was set up from 20 October 2026. The usual night lighting at the Gate is off from 26 October 2026 until probably early December. The outer passages are closed during the works, and the middle one can be used. Check the current situation before you go, and see the history of the Gate for background on the lighting project.
